About the project

The Creative Partnerships programme is the Hungarian adaptation of a UK-based educational model that has been running in Hungary since 2015. It promotes five key pillars of creativity: curiosity, imagination, collaboration, disciplined thinking, and perseverance.

As part of the European Capital of Culture 2026 initiative, the programme is currently running in six elementary schools in Trenčín, Slovakia. Its focus is on bringing artists into schools to co-design lessons with teachers, creating active and engaging classrooms where students learn through physical, social, emotional and intellectual involvement. Special emphasis is placed on supporting socially disadvantaged children by strengthening their confidence and motivation.

The Mission

Creative Partnerships aims to transform traditional teaching by fostering collaboration between teachers and artists. Together, they create classroom experiences that engage students creatively and support personal development.

The programme helps students build essential 21st-century skills—such as creativity, flexibility, and responsibility—preparing them to shape their own future and contribute to their communities.

Methodology

At the core of the programme is a long-term partnership between teachers and creative professionals—such as visual artists, performers or designers. Together they plan and lead weekly sessions that combine curriculum content with creative, hands-on activities.

These sessions focus on developing students’ soft skills like problem-solving, collaboration and resilience. The process includes regular reflection and feedback to ensure lasting impact for both students and educators.
